Using images in your brochures is very important if you want to capture your audience’s attention with your brochures. Having the right images will spell success of failure when speaking of luring your target audience into reading your brochure printing material.

However, there are many who are having trouble when using images in their brochure printing materials, they often see that there are problems in the way that their brochures are made. Here are some basic guides that you can follow in order to have no problems when you are getting your brochure printing materials done.

Check your dpi
Dpi stands for dots per inch. It is the main unit of measurement in which the resolution of your image is measured. The standard image resolution that you should have in your images is 300 dpi. This is required if you want your prints to be done with high quality images that are crisp, clean and clear. If the images that you use in your brochures are below the minimum required resolution, your images will be fuzzy and the details in your prints will look hazy.

Also, another important thing that you should note is that if you plan to print other materials in large format, the image resolution standard will vary from printer to printer. Remember that if you ever want to create prints that are in the large format, then you should call your printer and ask for their advice regarding the proper image resolution required.

Check the image size
The size of the image that you use should also be considered if you want to have perfect images and pictures in your prints. It is advisable to have your images at the desired size before you go and place them in your design. In order to preserve the quality of the image that you use, you should avoid scaling your images in your page layout software. Do all image size scaling on an image or photo editing software before placing it in your page layout software.

There is a proper way to scale
And on the topic of image scaling, one thing that you can do to make sure is that you have to scale your images properly. Some people scale their images the wrong way. They just drag the corners or the edges and scale the images as they see fit. This is wrong since the proportions of the images will not be correct. The image will get distorted and your pictures will look bad. One thing that you can do to avoid this is to hold the shift button on your keyboard when you are scaling your images. This constrains the proportions of your images so that they will be balanced.

Go CMYK
The last thing that you should be checking is the fact that you should be in the CMYK color space. There are two color spaces involved in printing and the other color space is RGB. The proper printing color space is the CMYK. You should set your color space in CMYK and avoid RGB when you intend to print your materials.
