Here are the three commandments that you need to follow at all times whenever you are printing your materials through color offset printing:
Know thy color spaces
There are two color spaces that are commonly used in color offset printing. In whatever printing technology that you go for, the CMYK and RGB color spaces are the color spaces that you are going to use. These two color spaces are vital if you want to have a printing experience that is smooth and trouble free. In order to maximize and get the best out of your printers, you need to have an idea of what these color spaces are about and where are they used.
RGB stands for the colors Red, Blue and Green. These three colors are combined to create different colors that you see in your monitors. The RGB color space is mainly used in monitors like the ones in your computers or television sets. The RGB color space is light a light based color space – it means that the color space is giving out light in order to produce colors.
The opposite goes for the CMYK color space. First, there are four colors involved in the CMYK color space – Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. These four colors are then combined to form and create the different colors that you can use when you are printing your materials. This color space is different from the RGB color space because is an ink based color space – a color space that creates colors through the combination of different colored inks. By combining the inks in different intensities, you come up with colors that are in wide varieties.
Check thy image resolution
Image resolution is another thing that is necessary when you want to have quality prints. The quality of the prints that you create is very dependent on the resolution of the images that you choose to add in your design. The minimum required resolution when printing is 300 dpi and you need to comply with this method if you want your prints done accordingly. Any images that have a lower resolution will produce prints that are fuzzy and blurry. Creating crisp photos and images requires having these images at this standard resolution. For large format prints, the resolution that you should use should be higher depending on the printing company that you will go to. It is better to consult with them first before going through with your prints.
Add bleeds
Bleeds are very much important when you are creating design that you want to use in your advertising and marketing campaigns. Bleeds are needed if you want to have safety nets on your prints – especially if you are printing in full color. When you are printing in full color you need to have the proper bleeds that will allow you to avoid those pesky wide margins that you get when the cutter misaligns
