Award Certificates Really Do Increase Employee Morale And Productivity

One of the biggest motivating factors in a workplace is genuine recognition of performance. This kind of recognition makes an employee feel that he or she is truly appreciated, which usually leads to a greater job satisfaction. Phillip B. Crosby, author or “Quality Is Free” may have said it best when he said, "Genuine recognition of performance is something people really appreciate. People really don’t work for money. They go to work for it, but once the salary has been established, their concern is appreciation. Recognize their contribution publicly and noisily, but don’t demean them by applying a price tag to everything."

A great way of recognizing your employees without applying a price tag to it is by using an employee award program. These programs tend to increase productivity by boosting morale. They also increase pride in the workplace, which helps create loyalty from your workers. Best of all, these kinds of attitudes are contagious.

Award certificates have the ability to create a healthy competition between employees or teams in a company. Everyone likes to be recognized as the best in their field and an award is a clear sign that someone is. Once award programs take hold, each month more and more employees will strive to be the most productive employee just for the bragging rights among their peers.

Additionally, this sort of award conveys to employees that the company is extremely happy with them. There is no stress or threat that they aren’t performing up to expectation. When employees have these good feelings it tends to spill over into their personalities, making them more pleasant and happy. That in turn spills over into other employees’ attitudes as well as customer perception and happiness with the company. Any situation can be made better if it’s handled by someone in a good mood versus someone in a bad one.

And the ceremony itself is greatly beneficial to a company. It provides an opportunity for the company to come together in a social setting. This allows camaraderie to be built because your employees can take the time to talk with one another without having to worry about solving a work related problem.

One level of recognition for your staff can be a Certificate of Appreciation. This can be a simple award certificate or a custom award certificate. It’s a great idea to use these types of award certificates regularly as thank yous for an employee going above and beyond the duties of his or her job.

You can also create monthly or quarterly award ceremonies for things like Employee of the Month. If you have a larger company, try to break these awards down by divisions to help spread the goodwill around. These types of monthly awards help employees and mangers feel more emotionally attached to their work. And it lets them know that their work isn’t for naught, but it appreciated by people higher up the chain.

The bottom line is that pay raises and bonuses are soon forgotten, but ongoing praise helps foster a sense of importance and self-worth and those feelings last. If you reward positive behavior publicly then that behavior will likely be repeated by more and more employees over the course of your company’s life.
