The popularity of bread makers cannot be denied. The beauty of a bread maker is that even a novice can make delicious, homemade bread quite easily. However, though the bread machine can be easily used, caution is still the watchword even if one is using a mix, more so while adding the ingredients. A bread machine gives you ample scope to prepare a variety of shapes and sizes of loaves. For a lot of people, a bread machine needs to be used to simply mix the ingredients; the loaf is then baked in a traditional oven. The commonly used pans are either of square or round shapes, and the size of a loaf ranges from one pound to two pounds or more.

A preheat cycle, to heat the ingredients before baking, is a desirable situation for some bread makers. For your bread to ‘rise’ properly while it is baked, it is advised that you select a bread maker that does not heat before time. A separate setting for different types of bread is quite a common feature of bread makers – foe example, for wheat or French bread. Moreover, a light, medium, or dark setting enables you to choose the ‘doneness’ of the bread. Normally, there is also a regular or rapid bake cycle. The inbuilt ‘window’ in the top or side of the bread machine would allow you to see the progress of your bread while it is in the process of baking.

A wide variety of options are available in bread makers, and you select the one you need, depending on the storage space you have for storing your new machine. You also have numerous options with regard to the size and capacity of the bread makers, to meet your requirement, depending upon the members of your family and your consumption of bread. A bread maker with a delay timer comes with the added advantage of allowing you to place the mix in the machine before you may leave home daily and when you return, the bread will be ready to eat.

You can also find a bread maker with a special feature with which, your machine will prepare the dough but not cook it, if you so desire. It is a good idea to select a bread maker that alerts you when it is time to put in additional ingredients, like fruit or nuts. The ‘keep warm’ feature of your machine can be a plus in the case when you are gone and the baking process finishes. Some more features - like crust control and special setting for fruits, nuts, cheese, and vegetables – can add to the quality of bread baked.

It is also advised that you study the warranty of your bread maker very carefully to ensure that, as and when required, service and replacement of parts can be taken care of. A separate setting for different types of bread is quite a common feature of bread makers – foe example, for wheat or French bread. Moreover, a light, medium, or dark setting enables you to choose the ‘doneness’ of the bread.
