Keeping the Swords in Play

Keeping the legacy of the swords alive is a must in our instant, "here and now" society that has become the norm. By "the swords" we mean the infamous swords of all the branches of the armed forces that operate under the Department of Defense. These history suffused icons have become our sanction to regenerating the loyalty and the trust in our last line of defense - our armed forces.

The US Military swords have long served to remind us of each and every man and woman that has sacrificed themselves for the betterment and integrity of a nation that has often scorned them, or tormented them for their unbiased and devoted servitude to us. We as a nation are responsible for carrying on the knowledge and respect due our members of the armed forces that we might keep our country great and strong since it was built on the backs of these very soldiers we are referring to. When researching the US Military swords, you will find one that symbolizes each of the branches of the armed forces. Understanding them and their meanings enables us to fully appreciate the history of each and every one.

The sword that has been closely identified with the Navy is the Navy Cutlass. As a defining piece of history, these Navy swords have served to protect and promote a nation that needed a mighty hand in its defense. Following true to their style, the Navy NCO Cutlasses are the current style that accompanies the dress uniform, offering a view of a truly historic piece of equipment. These Navy swords were designed around 1841 and changed in the design during the Civil War in 1860. From that point on, their design has remained largely the same as has their mottos and practices.

The Airforce sword, closely resembled by the Airforce Academy Sword, is one that bears the weight of a reputation earned by death, mercy, battles, and lost lives. These swords pass on knowledge of the Airforce in a different light to the way most people have seen.

The reputation of the mighty USMC (United States Marine Corps) precedes them with their USMS sword and the rich history that comes with it. Created for the representation as being the final defense, the USMS sword gives us a taste of what power and might is and how it keeps the soldiers ready for battle. Appearances rate this US Military sword as one of the most enrapturing pieces of solid workmanship for the armed forces. Seeking to encompass the defining traits of the USMC, the USMS sword gives a glowing recommendation to these brave men and women.

The Army saber is one that has changed the varying looks quite often over the course of our nation's growth. From simple and elegant to bold and strong, the Army swords have given us glimpses of the trends that were prevalent during the wars fought back then. Closely following the ups and downs of the Army, their sword dictates these changes, ever so carefully, in the designs that varied almost from generation to generation. As a trait of the Army, being a chameleon, seeking to adapt and suit almost any surrounding to best be at an advantage to defend our country, the changes seen in the Army swords only serve to further prove their ability to change and adapt quickly to that change.
